One-day introductory masterclass

Here, you will look at the transition from GCSE to A-level.

You will attend workshops based on topics from the A-level Mathematics curriculum to support your learning. Sessions will be run by University of Warwick academics and students, as well as partners from MEI.

When: January 2027.

Two seven-week Massive Open Online Courses (MOOCs)

These online courses have been designed to fit with the A-level Mathematics curriculum in a structured series.

Content is delivered in a variety of ways including videos, practice questions and assessments, covering a range of methods and applications. You will also receive ongoing online mentoring from current Imperial students.

When: During the spring and early summer terms.

Closing one-day masterclass

This will focus on awkward and difficult topics from A-level Mathematics.

The day will include workshops supported by University of Warwick academics, student mentors and external partners from MEI.

When: May 2027.

When: Autumn term or spring term.

We are looking forward to seeing applications from students with a passion for Mathematics.

You must meet the following requirements:

• You must currently be in year 12
• You must be studying at least three A-levels, including Mathematics
• You have achieved at least a 6 in your Mathematics and Science GCSEs, and have completed at least 2 Science GCSEs (please note that we review academic attainment as part of our selection process, in the past most of our successful applicants have achieved at least 6 GCSEs graded 7-9 including Mathematics and Sciences)
• You are capable of achieving an A grade in A-level Mathematics, even if you may not feel certain of this
• You are willing and able to travel to Warwick up to two times a year on scheduled weekend dates
• You are planning to apply for university courses with a large mathematical component

This programme is designed for pupils from communities that are underrepresented in higher education. We use the criteria below to assess who is eligible to participate.

Priority will be given to applicants who meet at least one of the following criteria:

• You have received or are eligible to receive free school meals at secondary school
• You live in a priority neighbourhood, i.e., an area recorded as having high levels of deprivation (IMD 0-20%)

• You are care experienced, this means you have spent a minimum of three months in local authority care at any time

• You are a Care Leaver, aged between 16-25 who has been in the care of the local authority for at least 13 weeks at any time since the age of 14, including some time after your 16th birthday

• You are estranged from both parents, living independently or with relatives or friends. This would include living in supported accommodation such as a foyer. By estranged we mean you are not supported by nor in contact with either parent

Additional Criteria:

• You are a refugee or are seeking asylum in the UK
• You have caring responsibilities, this means you provide unpaid care for a family member or friend, usually due to a long-term illness , disability, mental health or addiction
• You are the child of a military family, this means your parent or carer serves in the armed forces or as a reservist, now or at any point during your childhood

• You are the first generation of your family to attend university (not including siblings)

• You come from a low income household (below £50,000 per year)
• Your school has below average attainment*
• Your school has a high percentage of students receiving free school meals
